October Lunch: EU-CA Association Agreement
On 27 October, the British Chamber of Commerce hosted a lunch around the European Union-Central America Association Agreement, specifically the Trade Pillar. For the past few years, an agreement has been in effect between both regions that covers areas of economic and technical cooperation, and trade. The idea is for European countries to have easier access to sell their products in the wider Central American region (a population estimate of over 43 million people), and vice-versa.
Our keynote speaker was Giovanni di Girolamo, head of the EU Mission in Panama. He spoke about the context of the Agreement, the different pillars, and eventually gave some details of what the trade pillar contained.
