The organisers and participants of the Third Annual Action on Disaster Relief Conference visited the facilities of the Regional Logistics Centre for Humanitarian Aid that is located in Panama.

This initiative will incorporate the emergency operations of various stakeholders in a single logistical area strategically located in the Panama Pacifico International Airport, according to a press release.

More than 200 representatives from public and private entities were interested in the new Humanitarian Hub, which will become a focal point for sending aid throughout the entire Latin American region.

The construction of the Humanitarian Hub, which is moving forward as planned, will culminate in the coming May in order to start its operations in the second semester of 2018.

Through this humanitarian hub, a Centre for Knowledge Transfer must be developed; legal agreements and mechanisms for facilitation must be managed; contracts, agreements, and coordination mechanisms with stakeholders for the completion of services must be organised; and negotiate and establish framework instruments that will develop international cooperation relationships, and collaboration with a view to obtain resources.
